My Experience with the Language of the Land of Rising Sun

せんしゅうの金曜日にかえりました。メリランドにうちがありました。メリランドはとてもしずかですが、きれいなところです。月曜日にいもうととえいがのかぐやひめのものがたりをみました。あのえいがはおもしろいです。そうしてたのしいです。火曜日にコロンビアだいがくへいきました。せんしゅうはしずかです。そうしてひまです。

まいあさ、しちじはん　おきます。それから、ときどきあさごへんをたべます。かようびともくようび　に、わたしのクラス　は　ごぜんじゅうじ じゅうぷん　から　ごごにじじゅうごふん　まで　です。げつようび　と　すいようび、わたし　も　クラス、　でも　クラス　は　ごぜんはちじじゅうぷん　から　にじじゅうごふん　まで　です。それから、せいぶつがく　の　けんきょうしつ　 へ　いきます。さんじ　から　ごじ　まで　けんきょうしつ　で　はたらきます。ときどき、ひるごはんなにも　たべませんでした。ごごごじはん　から　ろくじはん　まで　べんきょう　します。それから、ばんごはん　を　たべます。それから、ごごしちじ　から　ごぜん　にじ　まで、わたし　も　べんきょう　します。

Ever since a young age, I have been fascinated by Japan, its culture, and its history. I've always been very intrigued by the characters and the language, but did not understand it. I thought it would barricade me from learning more about the culture, history, and literature of Japan. As a result, I thought college would be the perfect time to start studying the language that has always fascinated me. When starting, I found the syntax and grammar to be very confusing, but with repeated practice I have been becoming more at ease with it. I'm very excited to learn kanji, although I know it will certainly be a challenge.
